Technology

The Advanced Laser Center is dedicated to the highest quality care. What this means to you is that we have chosen the absolute best technology available.

The Advanced Laser Center only utilizes devices that have been approved by the FDA. Call us for the details on all of our technologies.

NIDEK EC5000

Our Nidek laser was the first of its kind in the U.S. Our Nidek is equipped with eye tracker and it can also treat large diameter pupils up to 10mm. The Nidek EC5000 is an amazing machine for nearsightedness and astigmatism.

   LADARVision 4000

The LADARVision system is an advanced Excimer laser system designed to give each patient the best possible result. LADARVision is distinctively different from all other Excimer laser systems. It combines the only patented laser radar eye tracker with a unique small spot laser beam. These features were designed to increase the accuracy individual treatments.

 Advantages of LADARVision:

  • Variable treatment zones
The LADARVision system allows 5.5mm to 8mm in diameter, with blend zones as large as 10mm. This represents the the largest range of treatment capabilities of any Excimer laser approved for use in the United States. This is important for a patient because it dramatically reduces the chance of night vision problems following LASIK with LADARVision since we have the ability to customize the treatment zone to your pupil size.
  • LADARTracker
The LADARTracker accurately tracks eye movements during surgery so you do not have to worry about holding your eye still. The tracker senses the position of your eye 4,000 times per second, guiding placement of the laser beam with pinpoint accuracy. LADARTracker refers to laser-radar, a tracking device originally developed by NASA.

  • Small spot scanning
The LADARVision system uses a small spot, flying laser beam that helps to create a very smooth treatment, further enhancing a patient's results. It also has the potential to treat complex surface patterns.

  • Results
Since the introduction of LADARVision to our practice in November of 2001, we have noticed an increase in our overall results. Currently, we are achieving the highest percentage of 20/20 outcomes with LADAR than our other laser technologies.
  LADARWave™ CustomCornea™

We use the LADARvision 4000 and the LADARwave™ to measure and treat for Custom Lasik and Custom PRK. CustomCornea™ is the only custom treatment approved by the FDA to treat higher order abberations (the need to have custom surgery and one main cause of poor night vision). CustomCornea™ is also able to treat larger optical zones than other "custom lasers".

Orbscan
Orbscan is the industry standard in corneal mapping. Orbscan can measure the front and the back survace of the cornea as well as the thickness of the cornea.

OPD Scan
OPD Scan is also a corneal mapping device, but it also gives us a wavefront analysis (Wavefront can help us determine whether custom or conventional treatment is necessary). The OPD also gives us very sensitive mapping technology.

OCULAR RESPONSE ANALYZER
Advanced Laser Center was the first to bring the ORA to Oklahoma.  This state of the art technology allows Dr. Belardo to measure the elasticity of the cornea.  Dr. Belardo is a pioneer in this new measurement and we use the information to further determine which patients are good candidates for Lasik and which patients may be at risk.
